After WWII

After the closure of Northam Migrant Centre in 1951, Northam Army Camp reverted to use as a Defence training camp for National Servicemen, Army, Navy and Air force cadets, Navy reserves, school cadets and full-time regular service personnel.

In the early 1950s, Northam Army Camp was the training camp for Australian troops sent to fight in the Korean War (1950-53).

In 1976, the 10th Light Horse Regiment moved its headquarters to Northam Army Camp.

Facilities have been upgraded or removed over the years and there has been little new development.

Northam Army Camp is now a Tri-service site known as Northam DTA. It is still owned by the Commonwealth Department of Defence and is used for a variety of purposes including cadet training, driving courses, storage and logistic support.
